ROAD MOVIE
We can’t go home. Get that into your thick head. You are a criminal. You are wanted by the police. You are armed and may be dangerous. They will lock you up. They won’t believe you when you say you were an innocent by-stander, they'll say why did you get in the van Louie?
Road movie was a co-production between Melbourne Workers Theatre and Back to Back Theatre. It is a kooky tragicomedy and tells the story of two escapees, Karen and Louie, when a workplace for people with a disability is held up by a would-be thief in a Mr. Whippy Van. Karen goes on a search for her mum. The play deals with fracturing of families and loneliness and explores what life is like with a disability.
